How Good Samartians Can Help

Rockport-Fulton Good Samaritans, Inc. provides a variety of services to residents of Aransas County at our Service Center at 507 S. Ann St. To receive services, clients should come to the center with a photo identification card and social security cards for each member of the family. They will meet with an interviewer who will determines the type and amount of assistance to be provided, if any. Most assistance is in the form of vouchers. We do not provide any direct payments to clients. Assistance is intended to address emergency needs.

We also work in conjunction with Castaways, The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, Aransas County Assistance, ACCESS, and Community Action. By combining resources with these other organizations and agencies, we are better able to address the needs of our clients.
Again, please be aware that all assistance is granted or denied by decision of the interviewers, in accordance with guidelines determined by our Executive Committee. No cash is on hand in our service center.
Food: We maintain a stocked food pantry at our service center and distribute food in volumes determined by household size. Our goal is to provide for at least five days of meals.
Clothing: We work primarily with Castaways Thrift Shop for clothing.
Utilities: We can provide assistance with utility bills (however, we do not pay deposits, and we do not assist with telephone service). We also provide referrals to Community Action. Community Action employees visit our service center two times a month and meet with our clients who have made appointments. If you are seeking such assistance, you should bring your current utility bill(s) with you to our office.
Rent: If you are seeking help with your rent payments, you will need to fill out a Rental Assistance Application. The information requested requires information from you and your landlord.
Prescriptions: If you are seeking assistance for medications, bring your prescriptions with you. If possible, bring a statement of prices from your pharmacy. We do not assist with prescriptions for opiates or related pain medications.
Shelter: If you are in need of temporary shelter, we may be able to provide a referral to Corpus Christi services.
Medical Needs: If you are seeking help with medical appointments, bring in all pertinent information, including time and date of appointment, name of doctor, and address and phone number of doctor.
Other: We may be able to assist with other household and family needs, including dental services, eyeglasses, and transportation. Hygiene kits are available. Pet food may be available depending on what we have received in donations.
